The Examined Life: 5 Lessons in Leadership
What if I'm indecisive? How should I manage my time? Who should I listen to? Leadership can feel heavy at times. Here are five lessons for leaders to help motivate you and keep you on the right track.
You have to learn to lead yourself first
This may seem obvious to some, but thinking of it in these terms helps me value investing in my own growth. I love people and I really enjoy seeing others grow, but I can’t lead them well if I’m not dedicated to continual growth myself. Christians, this doesn’t mean that you’re not following God’s lead. Quite the opposite, in fact. For example, Galatians 5 states that both self-control and faithfulness are fruit of the Holy Spirit’s work in your life. We want to cooperate with and celebrate God in every area of our life. That takes focus and self-leadership.
